Commission on Guardianship and Conservatorship to meet May 10

The Mississippi Commission on Guardianship and Conservatorship will meet for the first time on May 10 at 10 a.m. at the Gartin Justice Building, 450 High Street in Jackson. The meeting will be held in the first floor training room.

The Mississippi Supreme Court created the Commission to develop recommendations to improve the way the courts protect children, vulnerable adults and estates.

Justice Dawn Beam and Mississippi Judicial College Executive Director Randy Pierce serve as co-chairs of the 26-member commission.

Justice Beam said that she expects the Commission to submit recommendations to the Mississippi Supreme Court and appropriate state leaders regarding changes to court rules and state laws. Pierce is expected to outline a timeline and expectations for the Commission in a presentation at 11:30 a.m.

The meeting is expected to last until 2:45 p.m.
